Making the decision on which career you want to pursue can be a very difficult one. You will need to a lot of research in order to find the right career that fits your personality and educational background. If you are looking for a fun and exhilarating career, then bartending is the best option for you. In order to get the training that you need for this career, you will need to attend a Bartending School in the Los Angeles area. You will be able to learn what to do and what not to do behind the bar from the school you attend. Here are a few of the things that you need to avoid when tending bar.

Watch the Hands

One of the first things that you need to avoid when tending bar is touching the rim of the glass you are using to mix a drink. Most customers pay close attention to things like this and if they catch you doing it, they may take their business elsewhere. You need to make sure that you only touch the bottom of the glass because most people view a touch from another person at the top of their glass as contamination.

Stay Off of Your Phone

When taking a shift behind the bar you need to remember to stay off of your telephone. You want to be engaging with your customers and give them your undivided attention. If they see you on a cell phone, then they will automatically think that your attention is not focused on them like it should be. The only time that you should use a cell phone is to find a drink recipe that you do not know off of the top of your head.

Be Open to New Ideas

Another very important thing that you want to avoid while bartending is saying you can’t make a drink or refuse to make something. You want to always be open to making any drinks that your customers ask because this will keep them coming back to you time and time again. Even if you try and fail a new drink, your customers will still see that you gave it a try.

By avoiding these things during your stint as a bartender, you will be able to have much more success. Neglecting to follow these basic rules can turn disastrous for you very quickly.
